Yeah great news that Australia’s speedster and the leading striking left handed bowler Michel Starc has been conferred the Alan Border Medal as the best cricketer of the year 2021 by Cricket Australia . Yeah Michel Starc is only the 4th Bowler who has been selected as the best cricketer of the year in the history of 22 years of Alan Border Medal . The award ABM was introduced before 22 year yes in 2000. Yes Michel Starc is undoubtedly the best cricketer of the year who performed well in all the three formats of the game cricket. Yeah dashing Michel Starc took 43 wickets in the year 2021. Yeah in the home Test Ashes Series Michell Starc dismissed 19 wickets and that job created margin in the voting whether one vote . Yeah in the voting Michel Starc thrashed out flamboyant allrounder Michel Marsh by only one vote . Yeah for the award the selection is made by cricketers, umpires and the media representatives of sports yes by the supreme democratic system the secret voting .
Yes what provoked me to write this is the name of the Award that is on Alan Border one of the greatest batsmen of Australia and echoing figure as the captain. But land Australia whose national game is Critical give many great cricketer. Yes a cricketer can be only the specialist batsman or specialist bowler and if has command in both the field bowling and batting then he is an all-rounder and if he collects the balls behind the wicket then expert wicketkeeper. And if leads the team then the captain. And like Eknath Solkar and Jonty Rhodes the fragile tiger and field with extra effort then great fielder cricketer. So the word cricketer is a vast and dense world which can be defined to have all these points. Yeah Australia have produced many cricketers but a great cricketer batsman all time greatest one and only Sir Donald Bradman. But in the bowling field it’s difficult to stamp on a one unanimous name and Fredie Spoforth ,Charlie Turner , Hugh Tumble,Bill O’Reilly, C Grimate , Ray Lindwal, Kieth Miller ,Bill Johnson, Alan Davidson, Graham Mackenzie, Max Waker , Jeff Thompson, Dennis Lillee ,C McDermott, Glen McGrath ,Shane Warne and Pet Cummins. If see the number of wicket tally then Shane Warne rests highest but the wickets’ tally and bowling average Glen McGrath stands highest . But F Spoforth and Charlie Turner were the giant bowlers whose stats are so impressive . So we can baptized by mixing taking the 1st letter of their name yeah as {}. And for the best all-rounder of the year award the award should be on the high profile all-rounder cricketer. Yeah that could be on JJ Ferris, Jack Gregory,W Armstrong, George Giffen, Richie Banaud and greatest Kieth Miller. Yes for the year’s best award should be on one name ,for the decade best mixture name and for the century mix up all the best bowlers for the title name. Yes for the best captain of the decade the award name should be on the best captain like Alan Border,Ian Chappal. In the modern era there is too much preference in fielding so award should be on the best fielder for recipient. Yes the Cricket Australia has produced many great cricketers but Alan Border left all the cricketers far behind when under his great captaincy Australia won it’s first ever World Cup and as the batsman Alan Border crossed the 10 thousand Test runs’ milestone surpassing indian great Sunil Gavaskar . And in honour to the Australian Cricket Board introduced the highest Cricketing Award on his worthy name -Alan Border Medal . But according to history Don Bradman is the bestest cricketer of not only nation Australia but also of the World . And there is no match of anybody with him. Yeah he couldn’t reach 10 thousand Test runs’ destination because he didn’t play Test Matches equalled to Alan Border . But it’s strange that the ICC has introduced only award on his honoured most name – young cricketer of the year.
Yes what I want to say through this presentation that is Michel Marsh is a bowler and his performance is unique in the bowling arena this year in which he has claimed 43 dismissals on his name. And in the 22 years of Award or Medal History Michel Marsh is only the 5th bowler who has been bestowed this award . Yeah the Australia have many great bowlers whose cricketing height is as paramount as Alan Border yeah as F Spoforth , Charlie Turner , Hadley Varity , Clarie , Grimate, Keith Miller , Ray Lindwal ,Bill Johnson, Alan Davidson C McKenzie,M Waker,D Lillee, J Thompson, Glan McGrath ,Shane Warne and Pat Cummins, etc . So the ACB has to prefer a bowler of high cadre and needs to baptized the Award or
Medal ‘s name on the particular greatest bowler not on the name of Alan Border because he is a pure batsman and can say it seems bit odd that a bowler is awarded on the name of batsman . Best cricketer means the supreme performer in all the fields of cricket yeah Batting ,Bowling ,
Fielding , mannerisms, Gentleness , personality,passion ,devotion ,etc.
And in this criteria only the all-rounder like Garry Soberse and Jack Kallis rest high but not fully because their dominance appear only in batting and in bowling they seem average and in fielding also average. Yeah G Soberse played 93 Test and under it 186 innings so less than one catch in an innings .
No doubt Alan Border was a great Test and ODI cricketer of Australia and honouring the cricketers on his worthy name is deserving and liable but for the bowler the award should be on the name of great bowler and that bowler should be award as The Best Bowling Character or The Best Bowler Cricketer or Best Bowling Maestro to take the first name of the great bowlers like STFTDLLMS ( Stft-DLLms madal ) yeah The first S stands for F Spoforth
,second T for Charlie Turner , F for JJ Ferris ,T for Jeff Thompson, D for Alan Davidson , first L for Ray Lindwal ,second L for Dennis Lillee,M for Glan McGrath and last letter S for Shane Warne . And if the batsman is as the best cricketer then Alan Border name is liable and justified with the cricketer. And if the all-rounder is selected as the best one then JGKMWA madal ( Jack Gregory- Keith Miller-W Armstrong ).
And the land of Kangaroo is known for the feat of Sir Don Bradman and only his name deserves yeah medal for the cricketer of the year but it is also not justified because Don is the greatest cricketer of the 20th Century and if the best cricketer of the decade or century is chosen then he should be honoured with the medal baptised on the worthiest name of Donald Bradman .
