Yes in the first glance India’s Kapil Dev seems the biggest all-rounder of Asia Subcontinent after Imran, the great but on the scrutiny base Kapil Dev isn’t rested the 2nd greatest and prolific all-rounder of subcontinent. Then who is the 2nd best allrounder of Asia Subcontinent . And stunning it’s also from nation Pakistan. Yes it can be stunned the readers and fans but it’s quite true on the statistics basis.
Yes it is Mustaq Mohammad of Pakistan who was a big all-rounder of Pakistan before Imran Khan . But later in the decade of 80s on emergence of Imran Khan the stature of M Mohammad got dimmed. From India Veenu Mankad had a big image as the all-rounder from india but same as Imran the emergence of great Kapil Dev diminished and deduned the height and the crown of great Vinu Mankad. Though in the statistics Veenu is absolutely equalled to Kapil Dev. Yes the main theme of my discussion is- it’s not Kapil Dev the 2nd biggest all-rounder of Asia Subcontinent. From Pakistan Mustaq Mohammed ,Imran Khan, Mohammed Hafiz ,Abdul Razzak, Saeed Afridi , from Shri Lanka Sanat Jaysurya, Angelo Methews , from Bangladesh Shakib Al Hasan and Afganistan has got the Test status recently and no all-rounder has come into the light yet. If the team has 5 high cadre bowlers and 5 specialist batsmen and a wicket keeper who can bat well like Adam Gilchrist, Kumar Sangkara then no team needs any all-rounder. But each team and its captain hope that his team would be destined with a top class allrounder. Captain Llyod and Ian Chappal never depended and required any all-rounder . Clive Llyod came with an awesome theory when his team lost a match in Port Of Spain when India chased a historic target 404 in the 4 th innings and won the match. In that match there was only two pace bowlers in the team. And in that match the spinners were exploited by the indian batting maestros SM Gavaskar , GR Vishvanath ,Brijesh Patel and M Amarnath. Clive Lloyd shocked a lot and a demon idea flashed in his mind and he starts playing with four speedsters. And he succeeded in his aim but he was lucky to get four terrefic and high rated pacemen . And reigned in the Cricket Empire for ten years. Here it is cleared that if the team has genuine bowlers and specialist batsmen then no team requires any all-rounder . Team Australia under the captaincy of Ian Chappal,Greg Chappal, Alen Border , Steve Waugh , Ricky Ponting,M Clarke that ruled for 20 years without any genuine all-rounder . But in 80s team England got a daredevil all-rounder as Ian Bothom and he dominated with bat and ball and awarded many wins to the team. India got a genuine gifted all-rounder as Kapil Dev after great Veenu. And his worthy presence helped India to get high image in the cricket world. the numbers of the Tests played by both are the same 57-57.And due have the statistics Shakib’ s height seems higher than M Mohammad but sometimes the testimonials do not say all true. Shakib Al Hasan from Bangladesh and Bangladesh become the Test playing nation earlier and due to it it hasn’t played much against tough teams and Shakib Al Hasan has played played 16 Test out of 57 against poor team. So he can’t be put ahead to Mustaq. It means 31 % Test he played against a poor or minnow rival and so his overall performance needs a postmortem. But in the first glance by watching statistics Shakib Al Hasan seems a bigger all-rounder then Mustaq . And in this belt some more all-rounders of 2K11 challenge Kapil and Mustaq. Such as Ravindra Jadeja ‘s batting performance not as sparkling as he must have because he has 2 triple hundreds in the First Class on his name but so far he couldn’t have shown performance of that cadre. He has only 1 hundred but 15 half hundreds on his name in 51 Tests . But yes in bowling arena his show is phenomenal that he has claimed 220 Test wickets with handsome bowling average of 24.32. And if evaluate Ravindra Jadeja’s performance and compare to Kapil Dev then Ravindra Jadeja rests bigger than Kapil Dev. Kapil Dev’s bowling average is 29.64 at the finished his long cricket career that spanned up to 20 years and during that he played big numbers of Test Matches that is 131 in which he took 434 Test wickets to keep 31.05 bowling average. So in bowling and batting Ravindra Jadeja stands higher than Kapil Dev. Yes this fact isn’t digested because Kapil Dev’s stature as the all-rounder is very very high and despite have big statistics Ravindra Jadeja hasn’t got that kind of height what Kapil Dev has. So the statistics are just figures and that don’t always speak truly. So in my churney Imran is unarguably the 1st rank All-rounder. And then comes Musraq Mohammed his figures are emphatic than Kapil in both the bowling ,batting and fielding. In fielding Kapil held 64 catches in 131 Test while Mustaq took 42 catches in just 57 Tests.
Asia has enriched with two big All-rounder as Imran Niazi Khan and Kapil Dev Nukhanj. Both are contemporary to each other and also the great rival in 1980s. Both buzzed a lot for their great game. Kapil Dev became more famous for his great captaincy under which India won its maiden World Cup in 1983.
