Lame Horses Everywhere everywhere !!!!!!
Lame ducks everywhere……?
( On Sunny Gavaskar’s remark over indian cricket team’s selection panel that didn’t review after world cup’s big blow and kept Kohali as the captain for the West Indies tour )
You have given the platform but you did not prove your quality or couldn’t endorse out the opportunity at the international level and the five members’ committee panel’s performance is meagre that they all have played only 13 Test and among it the chairman played 6 Test … and two members of the committee haven’t played the Test Match. So the word or phrase “lame ducks” is liable according to legendary Sunny Gavaskar. When you are the selectors to chose or hunt players for the international level then you need the international experience of both kind yes home soil and abroad then you can justify the selection. On Sunny ‘s remark in reaction and reply MSK Prasad gives his stand in protection that his selection committee penal has played 477 first class matches and watched out 200 first class encounters but in their lap just 13 Test which is only the scale to measure cricketer’s stature is not good. Though the chairman of the committee has answers all smartly of reporter’s questions and his logic and examples are really appropriate and solid. He spares him and his panel’s fellows by saying stature isn’t matter if you glimpse out Raj Singh Dungarpur who reckoned the extraordinary talent of Sachin Tendulkar as the chief selector and gave him chance by reckoning his extraordinary talent only at the age of 16 . Further he pointed out the example of Ed Smith who is the chairman of England and Wales Cricket Board and played only one Test . But mr Prasad isn’t mentioned the example of BCCI’ s hollowness in which not Raj Singh ( the chief selector and board chairman ) but J.Dalmia, K Rungta , CP Joshi, Lalu Prasad, Rajiv Shukla, Shashank Manahar Sharad Powar, Anurag Thakur , N Shrinivasan , IS Bindra , Madhav Roa Sindhiya , Fateh singh Roa Gayakavad and many more even likes of Narendra Modi remained chiefs of state and nation’s cricket board and all these bosses never played at the international level and amazing that someone were not knowing ABC of cricket. And as far my knowledge they haven’t connected with the game practically. Mr Prasad shot another big example of Australia where Trevor Hohns who is the chairman of Cricket Australia’s selection committee for over a decade played only 7 Tests and player like M Waugh who has big international stature ( 128 Tests and 244 ODIs ) worked under Trevor. And ahead of it one of the greatest Test batsmen of World Cricket and legendary figure Greg Chappell who played 87 Tests and 74 ODIs with solid average too working under Trevor Hohns. So why not in India. So stature and international experience isn’t matter and india too shouldn’t be the exception in this respect.
Here he says ” If international experience is only the case then many ex- cricketers who have played only domestic level cricket can never be dreamt to be the selector or can hold any prestigious post in the BCCI. He proceeds continuously how far is it right and justifiable to comment on stature and international experience of the selection committee when the job actually demands a different expertise to spot the talent. When asks by the media person about legendary batsman Gavaskar’s remark he gently and smartly says that it is unfortunate but he utmost respects for the legendary cricketers. Each person has right to express its opinion and reaction as well.
Here I point out the fact that Sanjay Manjrekar the former Test batsman expressed his viewpoint that he is disagree with the remark of Sunny Gavaskar Sir. S. Manjrekar says that integrity of the selectors is greater than the stature . Here what Sunny Sir is saying and what S Manjrekar is interpreting …. Needs to understand that Suny Gavaskar is saying about the process that after each tour or tournament the performance of the team , captain, coach and team management is reviewed…But sorry the process isn’t followed by the selection committee. Gavaskar that’s why reacting about the stature of the selection committee who didn’t dare to review and directly kept V Kohli as the captain under whom india won 7 league matches but at the pick or crucial stage despaired the fans of the nation and thrashed them in dismay and desperation.
Gavaskar Sir uses the phrase ‘ lame ducks ‘ because due have the dwarf cricketing stature or image and poor international record and experience as well the committee couldn’t dare out to review because the stature of Virat Kohali and Ravi Shastri is bigger in indian cricket than all these five selection committee members.
Here what is mr MSK Prasad interpreted in the question asked by the reporter is not proper. He mentions the name of Raj Singh Dungarpur but what stature he had in the cricket world needs to know . He was from a royal family and rich also . He was a big cricket expert and commentator and remained BCCI’s boss so a common man can understand his height in the game cricket. MKS Prasad mentioned the name of Ed Smith who is the chairman of England and Wale’s Cricket Board…And mr Prasad needs to know what is the mean of the boss of England and Wales Cricket Board’s chief. By letting name of Australia’ s selection committee ‘s supremo Trevor Hohns who has played only seven Tests in his part and biggies like M Waugh and G Chappell who worked under him but you need to know the fact that the player is not bigger than the game the principle is followed . And the figure isn’t considered there in England and Australia. And out of form player is sack off or dropped at once. Or is ousted from the national team if he is not in the proper form. The selection committee there always dares out to sack off any big player if he is not at his height….But in india this kind of recklessness can’t be done. You know Greg Chappell as the indian coach dared to do so but he remained unsuccessful yes in S Gungualy ‘s concern. So here the comparison of MSK Prasad is not liable and reasonable. In india there is a long bench and row and in nations like Australia and England are helpless that they do not have 11 original players from their own nations while cricket is theirs national game. So in india prospective point of view here MSK Prasad is not right though he has given good logic and evidence about him and his panel but if we pierce out deeply and test it by scrutinizingly then sure he has just tried to put safer point unlogically. Being the cricket expert of my kind I have caught the micro points and discussed here. And by reading it you too can ask me likes of great Gavaskar about my cricket stature as cricketer and expert but I let you know I had big and reputed stature at my time at my village level and surroundings as an opening batsman and here in lake city I too made good image of cricketer as an opening batsman and left arm leg spinner. And I am big analytic of game cricket but due to not get big platform due to hostile circumstances and nepotism and couldn’t flash at the big level though I have long cricketing experience almost 35 years of playing ,watching , reading about cricket and one year coaching too to the colts or cubs. It is well said that experience is the best teacher and Mr Ramakant Achreker didn’t play at the highest or international level and there are many gurus who trained the big players though they didn’t have played at big level. And if you watch out cricket for many years you can expertise yourself. Ramakant Acharekar Sir trained Sachin Kambli Sameer Dige ,who flashed his name as the coach . So experience of any kind is master itself. So here I agree about MSK Parsad’s clearance but I condemn him because he has got a great chance to play at the international level but couldn’t prove or endorse out the big opportunity. And our BCCI is great that it has nominated or given post of envious and challenging job. Here the probabilities of nepotism Zonalism and recommendation can’t be neglected. Because india is well known for this kind of great virtues. The selectors have sent the stout team it might be due to WTC but india would have sent its B class team then that team too would register series victory over the West Indies why because it is one of the poorest teams of Carabian History. And in present more than 20 West Indies or Bangladesh level teams rest in india. West Indies Test ranking is below Bangladesh, Shri Lanka or exactly no. 9 ah and in present isn’t a fear likes of 80s decade. India won the Test series against Australia because it was lame and poor under T Penny . In England and S Africa it lost and in home soil it is lion as ever though all teams are poorest ever who visited india. All teams are passing through a rehabilitation phase and the bench is zero there. And in real there is no matchable or solid rival against india . England is emerging as a solid rival but let see how would india perform there and after sandgate scam the entrance of trio Smith ,Warner and Bancroft Aussies are solid but the captain is a lamb and not of that level who can lead with the front. Newziland and S Africa are also not good contenders if talk about the test arena. One days are always unpredictable that’s why New Zealand won in the semis against india which was one of hottest claimers of WC 2019. India won the series in Australia under V Kohli because of their three leading players absence but despite of it T Penny and company won one is the defeat of indian team because it has to whitewash the Aussies.
