Arthur Hill : The Lone Real All-rounder Of Test Cricket!
◆ Sobesque Batting
◆Lohmaansque Bowling
Yes …On data base Arthur Ledger Hill known as Ledger Hill the British Test Cricketer-1895- 1896 exists as the perfect all-rounder of the Test Cricket Arena. Yes longevity might the question but what did he play is rich in the statistics and leaves far behind all the so called greatest all-rounder of Test cricket. Yes even G Soberse and J Kallis both seem dwarf against his bowling and bowling figures. Yes in batting his batting average is 62.75 by playing 4 innings and the bowling average is only 2 and strike rate is just 10 and as a bowler he bowled only in an innings in which he delivered only 40 deliveries by keeping 1 economy . Yes as a batsman he played 3 Test and Wow thus no all-rounder does match to him. If we decide the class criteria (60 plus batting average and under 20 bowling average ) for genuine Test Cricket all-rounder ( not bowing -battimg ( G Soberse and J Kallis) and batting bowling ( Imran Khan , K Miller) allrounder. Let see the stats of Arthur Hill–

Yes in batting no ground for the criticism and deserves praise because at that time the batting was tougher so his performance is paramount. Yes in bowling concerned
there is slot to discuss because he was an underarm right arm fast bowler though at that era it was legalised with Round or Over arm . Yes the Underarm bowling was restricted under ICC Rule and only the Round Arm or Overarm bowling fixed legalized after infamous episode of Travor Chappal’s Under arm Delivery in February 1,1981 in a World Series Cup ODI match. And disput compelled ICC to amend the rule and since that Under Arm Delivery considered illegal . So before 1981 underarm delivery was legal though after 1877 to 1915 underarm was in term but it was lessened and occasional and most bowlers preferred only Round or Over Arm Bowling. So okay it was in activation but it was rare after invention of Round Arm Bowling by Willis it gone famous and most of the bowlers preferred it . But the point which method is tougher to face as the batsman. Yes according to me the underarm delivery is rather tougher to face than Round Arm it so because the ball can be bounce a bit or or absolutely non . And in this case difficult to hit the ball. And underarm delivery can be faster than Round arm because without run up the bowler can throw the ball with greater speed by his free shoulder and arm. And under Underarm there might be beamer that cause fatal . So we can’t underestimate the Underarm bowling and can say easy to face . So Arthur Hill’s bowling statistics are under Underarm Bowling and looks very splendid that he bowled away just 40 deliveries in his short career of mere 3 Tests in which he gave away only runs and took 4 wickets . His best bowling figure is brilliant 4/8 . And his bowling average is marvellous 2.00. It mean 2 run per wicket . 40 balls means 10 overs to have 4 balls an over count . And 6.4 overs to have the present count . But in Strike Rate Account no variation occurs. So 40 ball 4 wickets means 10 balls for 1 wicket’s dismisseal.
So there is no issue of longevity of career on the present based statistics Arthur is Aroma or Odor and and as Hill not hill but Mountain and not ordinary mountain but the Himalay.
