Virender Sehwag Wasn’t The Specialist Test Opening Batsman But The Story Is Different
Yeah dear cricket lovers Rohit Sharma has been selected for the opening slot to be partner with Shikhar Dhavan . Indian selectors have tried many openers after Virendra Sehwag but no one could prove his selection properly. Shikhar Dhawan entered in the Test and begun with bang and proven his selection and became a horse of a long race. But no partner has found good that could prove match with Shikhar Dhawan’s stature. Murali Vijay was a good stylish specialist opening batsman but due to inconsistency side lined by the selectors . K A Rahul looked so promising but he to couldn’t prove and the selectors were in trouble for this opening slot . But after all their mind got helpless to think about it and thought to put Rohit Sharma for it. Rohit Sharma is a specialist of T20 and F50 formats and very talented stylish batsman. Rohit has been given chance in the Test but at the fourth or fifth place where he played some good innings but overall not consistent so neglected by the selectors . And due have the opening partner of S Dhawan the selectors have decided to select Rohit for the opening slot.
And it is good step of the selectors because this kind of experiments have been done before that Virender Sehwag was promoted for opening and he has done envious at this place . Such as number eleven batsman Sanat Jaysurya been promoted in the one dayers as the pinch hitter and then as an opener in the Test and his successive story is also envious. Here I mean Virender Sehwag and S Jaysurya were not the specialist Test openers but the experiment worked . And as the opener their name is in the elite club . The selection of Rohit Sharma for the opening slot is please worthy because he is a dashing batsman of T20 and ODI and his record is emphatic in both the formats as the opener and for him to open the innings isn’t tough and he can manage well at this place. He is an explosive batsman and if he could continue his natural game yes like V Sehwag then his success is assured but for it the selectors ,the team management and the captain must leave him free minded and if he gets unsuccessful in one series then no matter he and he must be given maximum chances though due have its cadre he would get success with the beginning and could leave V Sehwag behind. In this aspect I want to point out Australia’s
Steve Smith who begun his career as the spinner but later he centralized to batting and promoted and refined and established him as the prominent batsman of Australian team .
So as a big fan of Rohit Sharma i wish him the best future as an opener and add pride in the legacy of great openers Sunny ,Navjot Siddhu ,Chetan Chouhan..
