If you are a real cricket lover I am sure you are well familiar with the name of Mustaq Ali. Yes the first flamboyant of indian cricket who slammed out a aggressive hundred there in abroad . He was an opening batsman and the best partner of great Vijay Merchant. In the first foreign tour of England under Colonel CK Naydu left his memorable mark that the indian Cricket Control Board honoured him by baptized tournament on his worthy name. Yes Mostaque Ali T20 tournament. It is one of prestigious domestic cricket tournaments of the indian land. Why is Mostaq Ali’s name given to this tourney it is so because the tournament represents shortest format of cricket i.e. T20. And T20 is played in on hard hitting manner and M Ali was known as an aggressive Test batsman . He believed only on hitting . He played only 11 Test and has two hundreds on his name. Average point of view his figures are not good but it is sure that he was a big entertainer and spectators preferred his aggressive style of batting . Though due to greater ambitious and due to fans supporting he often used to get haste and awarded his wicket cheaply. So his figures are poor or averaged but many a time we can’t measure the players ‘ height or cadre.Sometimes the figures do not justify with the players real quality and cadre. In that period only Test cricket was in the mirror and due to less travel medium less Test series were played so cricketers couldn’t play greater Test Matches like present era. So in his cricket career of 19 years ‘ span (1934 January to Feb 1952 )only 11 Test matches are on his name while in the present period the average player has at least 12 Test or more on his name.
Why mr M Ali’s name is in buzz because the World is under the Coronado pandemic and all the sports events’ scheduled are postponed. Such as India’s dominant franchise tournament IPL has postponed up to further count. Under BCCI and worthy nod of ICC 13 additions have played so far but due to broken out Corona Virus abruptly and the situations are seeming critical and in jeopardy the organizer BCCI is helpless and also knelt down under government’s stricted rule. Sunny Gavaskar one of India’s opening slots legend suggested that the IPL should have played without foreign cricketers. On this suggestion an official from BCCI reacted that we can’t be framed IPL like Mushtaq Ali Trophy or Tournament. He further says we can not shape it poor as Mubaraq Ali Tournament. He means without foreign players there would be no charm because according to him those players add flavour and thrill. On it Sunny Gavaskar reiterated that by saying it the legend Mushtaq Ali is insulted . Sunny asks is there no importance of Mushtaq Ali trophy or tournament. Sunny says if it’s standard is poor ,increase it up to high standard . You do not want to downfall standard like Mustaq Ali Trophy then frame irs standard high like IPL. Sunny says why MAT ‘s standard low, it is so that foreign players not play in it and even local greats not play in it due to wrong scheduled. And in this regard Sunny Gavaskar is right . When we have named the tournament on his prosperous and reputated name then we should pay full esteem to him. By reacting or commenting like this we should not go Irresponsible and irrelevant. These kind of cricketers are our capital who gave goodwill us in the field of cricket so we are so grateful on their great act. By being the responsible dignitary you can’t disgrace the dignity. When the trophy ‘s name has given on name then it is clear he has big reputation in this regard. And one vital point need to mind that he was Padmshree yes one of a big civilian award of india. Ultimately for the game and its legend the officer of BCCI must apologize that the spirit in heaven excuse him and the game’s grace would rest ever high .
